LIFE IS WHAT YOU BAKE IT
Hey there! Thanks for visiting Pendleton Street Treats, my micro-bakery and now… website!
My name is Sue, I've been baking for many years for family and friends, I credit my love of baking to Alice, a close family friend, she was like a grandmother to me, she was all things wonderful. Alice and I spent many of my childhood weekends baking cookies. Some of my best memories are set in her kitchen.
I’ve been married to my best friend for 30 years, together we have 8 grown children, 8 grandkids (all boys! I need a girl to spoil!!). We have one little pug named Ernie, he’s adorable, even if he barks way too much! We live in a suburb of Chicago, in a cute mid-century style ranch home that I’m trying to find room in for my growing bakery business, it’s a challenge to be sure!
My first real career was as a professional baker, I spent 15 years running a bakery and commissary for a local gourmet grocery store chain in the northern suburbs of Chicago. I learned a lot in those years, not just about baking, but about leading a team and running a business. I left the baking industry and worked my way through a couple of corporate jobs for the next 23 years, but after so many years away from baking, I decided to return to what gives me joy. The best part is that I get to work for myself! So, as a nod to my many years in the corporate world, I'm now the Chief Baking Officer (CBO) of Pendleton Street Treats!
I do believe that baking something for someone is a way of showing them how much you care for them, it’s truly a labor of love. I use only the best ingredients, and test every recipe several times before deciding to add it to my menu. I do hope you'll join me on this journey, my mission is to Bake your day Better with every bite!
Enjoy!
